Obama: Bin Laden killed in Pakistan

President Barack Obama announced, the leader of an international terrorist network Al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, has been killed in Pakistan. Obama announced that, on Sunday (05/01/2011) night U.S. time, in a speech on television which broadcast live.

Bin Laden is said to have been killed in a U.S. intelligence operation outside of Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. CNN reported that U.S. troops had Bin Laden's corpse.

Bin Laden was accused of being behind terrorist attacks against the World Trade Center twin towers in New York and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 in the United States that killed at least 3,000 people. U.S. hunt for terrorist kingpin Saudi Arabia was for many years and efforts to hunt against him many times after the attacks on September 11. However, Bin Laden always managed to avoid the U.S. armed forces. Bin Laden is often seen hiding in the border regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Bin Laden's death would cause a big question about the shape of future al-Qaeda network and will have implications for U.S. security and foreign policy of the country. The announcement will also cause concern that the U.S. and its allies will face retaliation from supporters of Bin Laden and Islamic extremist groups.
